Frequently Asked Questions About Cruising to Sitka

What do cruise visitors often get wrong about Sitka?

Trying to do too much. Sitka may look small on a map, but some popular attractions are well outside downtown.

Underestimating transportation time. Getting from the cruise terminal to downtown—and back again—takes part of your port day.

Waiting too long to return to the ship. Shuttle lines and traffic can build later in the day.

Assuming rain ruins the day. It doesn't. Rain is normal here, and Sitka can be beautiful in wet or misty weather.

Only looking at cruise-line excursions. There are excellent independent local operators in Sitka as well.

Trying to see everything. Pick two or three experiences you really care about and enjoy them.
