Meet Your Guide

I believe the best tours leave you with more than great photos—they leave you with stories you'll still be telling years later.

History has always fascinated me, especially the stories that aren't found on every museum plaque or history book page. After spending more than two decades as an educator, school psychologist, university instructor, and lifelong Alaskan, I combined my passion for teaching with my love of local history to create Haunted Sitka.

What began as a way to share Sitka's remarkable past has grown into one of the community's highest-rated walking tours, welcoming thousands of cruise visitors from around the world each season. Every tour is an opportunity to introduce guests to the people, places, and events that make Sitka one of Alaska's most fascinating destinations.

My tours are built on authentic history. While you'll certainly hear ghost stories and local legends, they're always grounded in the real people, historic events, and colorful characters who shaped this remarkable town. One of my favorite parts of guiding is weaving documented history and local hauntings together so naturally that guests often find themselves wondering where one ends and the other begins.

I take history seriously—but I never believe it has to be told seriously.

Expect plenty of laughter, conversation, and those unexpected moments that turn strangers into friends by the end of the walk. Whether we're exploring Sitka's rich Tlingit heritage, Russian American history, the Alaska Purchase, or the mysteries that still linger in our historic streets, my goal is to make history engaging, memorable, and genuinely fun.

As someone who has spent a lifetime exploring Alaska, I also love helping visitors experience Sitka beyond the typical tourist stops. Whether I'm recommending my favorite local coffee shop, sharing the best places to eat, suggesting a whale watching excursion, or leading a historic haunted walking tour, I want every guest to leave with a deeper appreciation for this extraordinary community.

Whether you're visiting Sitka aboard a cruise ship, exploring Southeast Alaska on vacation, a history enthusiast, a skeptic, a believer, or simply looking for one of the most unique things to do in Sitka, you'll find a warm welcome here. I keep my tours personal whenever possible so every guest has the opportunity to ask questions, share a laugh, and enjoy an experience tailored to their interests.

By the end of the tour, my hope is that you'll feel like you've done more than visit another Alaska cruise port. I hope you'll leave feeling connected to Sitka, inspired by its history, and carrying home stories you'll still be sharing long after your vacation has ended.

I can't wait to welcome you to Haunted Sitka.
