"After taking the Haunted Sitka walking tour, my daughter and I wandered back through town to revisit a few of the locations we'd learned about. We stopped near the old wooden geodetic survey house to take pictures. While I was framing a shot, I noticed what looked like a man standing near the corner of the building.

He was dressed in dark clothing and seemed to be watching us. I glanced away for only a second to check my camera settings, and when I looked back, he was gone.

What made the experience unsettling was that there was nowhere he could have gone that quickly without us seeing him. My daughter then asked, 'Did you get a picture of that guy?'

When I showed her the photos later, there was no one in any of them.

​

Neither of us felt threatened, but we both agreed the encounter left us with an uneasy feeling that stayed with us long after we left."
